Community Food Rescue and Waste Reduction continues with Oct. 14 conversation in Rockport
“Community Food Rescue and Waste Reduction”, the second of four presentations in an informational series hosted by Nativity Lutheran Church, Rockport, will take place on October 14, 3:30 to 5 p.m. at the Nativity Lutheran Church, 179 Old County Road, in Rockport.
This event features representatives from several organizations that are addressing wasted food in our local communities and offers a place for conversation about what works and what is needed.
Scrap Dogs co-owner Tessa Rosenberry, Kristie Kosalski of Come Spring food pantry/Gleaners, and student representatives from the Camden Hills High School Windplanners sustainability group will share their efforts to capture uneaten food and deliver it to peoples’ tables and to farmers for compost.
The presentations in this series are hosted by Nativity Lutheran Church.
An initial overview presentation, held on September 30 during the Maine Wasted Food Awareness Week, featured Susanne Lee, Faculty Fellow at the University of Maine’s Mitchell Center for Sustainability Solutions.
Two additional presentations include “Restaurants and Food Vendors Work Sustainably” on October 28, at noon, and “Reducing Food Waste at Home” on November 8, at 10 a.m., both at Nativity Lutheran Church. All events are free and open to all. Take your questions.
